Nose job surgery, also known as rhinoplasty, is a way to change the appearance of the nose. This is one of the most commonly performed plastic surgery procedures today, due to the ability of the surgeon to produce excellent, natural results through a variety of techniques. Dr. Dilip Madnani offers customized nose shaping options to his patients, to help them achieve desired results for a wide variety of concerns.

Who is it For?

Dr. Madnani may perform nose job surgery for any of the following reasons:

  • A nose that is too small or large in comparison to other facial features
  • A nose that is misshapen or out of alignment
  • Nostrils that are misshapen or asymmetrical
  • Defect that is the result of a birth defect or injury
  • Defect in the internal structure of the nose that inhibits breathing

Rhinoplasty is a procedure that can be performed alone or in combination with other plastic surgery procedures, such as a facelift, ear surgery, chin augmentation or eyelid surgery.

How does it Work?

Dr. Madnani performs most nose reshaping procedures on an outpatient basis, using either general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. Incisions may be placed on the outside of nose between the nostrils, or inside the nasal passages where they are completely invisible. Choice of approach will depend in large part on the specific techniques that will be used during the surgery.

Once incisions are made, Dr. Madnani uses them to remove excess cartilage and tissue, if reduction in the size of the nose is desired. If augmentation is the goal, this may be accomplished through a variety of techniques, including implants, cartilage grafts or fat transfer. If the internal structure needs to be altered, such as in the case of a deviated septum, this can be addressed as well.

What are Results Like?

After surgery, Dr. Madnani carefully places dressings on the outside of the nose and possibly inside the nasal passages. These dressings minimize bleeding and swelling and hold the nose in its new form until healing is complete. Most patients return to work and regular activities within three weeks after the procedure.

Results of a rhinoplasty cannot usually be seen right away, due to bandages, swelling and bruising in the area. Once the nose has some time to heal, results will become more apparent. Nose reshaping is considered a longer lasting cosmetic procedure that only needs to be performed once in the patient’s lifetime, if the initial procedure goes as planned.

Dr. Madnani is skilled in a variety of nose job techniques, ensuring all of his patients can enjoy natural, beautiful results. To learn more, contact Dr. Madnani’s office at 212-203-8591.
