Age and gravity take their toll on the brow region, resulting in sagging skin and the formation of facial wrinkles. A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, reverses the signs of aging around the upper face by removing excess skin and tissue that lead to an aged appearance. The forehead becomes visibly smoother and firmer, with a notable absence of facial creases. Dr. Dilip Madnani is highly skilled in brow lift procedures, offering patients beautiful, natural results with almost no visible scarring.
A brow lift might be recommended by Dr. Madnani for the following concerns:
- Deep horizontal creases that extend across the forehead
- Vertical lines appearing between the brows, known as frown lines
- Sagging skin that creates the appearance of a drooping brow line around the eyes
- Horizontal furrows across the bridge of the nose
A brow lift can be performed alone, but is often recommended in combination with other plastic surgery procedures like eyelid surgery or a facelift to enhance results. Dr. Madnani customizes each treatment to the unique needs of the individual patient, to ensure desired results are achieved as closely as possible.
A brow lift can be performed by Dr. Madnani on an outpatient basis, using local anesthesia with sedation. Incisions are usually placed along the hairline, which leaves almost no visible post-surgical scarring. Endoscopic incisions, smaller incisions that run across the hairline, may be used for some patients that don’t require quite as much lift or removal of excess skin and tissue. Dr. Madnani usually combines the browlift procedure with pretreatment using Botox/Xeomin or similar agent to stop the activity of the forehead muscles during the healing process. This enhances the longevity of the results.
A brow lift typically takes one hour to complete, depending on the size of the incision and the amount of tissue and skin to be removed. The underlying skin structure is also repositioned during the surgery to ensure the most natural, long-lasting results possible. When the procedure is complete, the incision will be closed using very fine sutures and a dressing applied to the area.
Patients return home after the procedure with oral pain medication to manage discomfort in the days directly following surgery. Bruising and swelling is normal after a brow lift, and will typically subside within 1-2 weeks. Patients are usually able to return to work and regular activities within one week, but strenuous exercise is usually discouraged for up to two weeks after the procedure.
Results of a brow lift can be seen right away, although dressings and swelling may keep you from seeing the full results for the first week or two. A brow lift is considered a long-term solution for sagging and facial creases in the brow area, and most patients find they do not require any type of touch-up treatment for many years after surgery.
A brow lift is an effective way to turn back the clock on your appearance with minimal discomfort and downtime. To learn more about this procedure, or other anti-aging options, contact Dr. Madnani’s office at 212-203-8591 to schedule your private consultation.
