Chin or Neck liposuction may be used to improve the following imperfections on the neck:

• Fullness in the neck under the chin
• Isolated pockets of fat along the neck and jawline
• Excess tissue that gives the appearance of a double chin
• Neck folds that are the result from fat accumulation

Chin or Neck liposuction (previously known as SmartLipo) may be performed alone, but is frequently recommended in combination with a Neck lift to enhance results. A Neck lift removes excess tissue and tightens loose muscles to make the most of the new neck contour achieved by liposuction. 

Chin liposuction begins with a tiny incision in a natural crease under the chin that is used to insert a very narrow tube called a cannula. The cannula is inserted into the fat tissue, loosening fat cells and then removing the fat cells from the body using a gentle suction device. Dr. Madnani uses care to leave a naturally soft neck contour. 

Chin liposuction is performed on an outpatient basis, using local anesthesia. The procedure takes an hour to perform, depending on the amount of fat to be removed and if other procedures are performed in combination

After the procedure, Dr. Madnani will place compression dressings over the incisions to minimize any bruising and swelling. Most patients are able to return to regular activities within one week after a sub-mental liposuction procedure. Results are evident right away and continue to improve as the surgical area heals completely.
