Madnani Facial Plastics is your premier center for surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation and reconstruction procedures. Led by board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Dilip Madnani, the medical professionals at Madnani Facial Plastics are proud to offer cutting-edge cosmetic treatments including upper eyelid surgery to men and women in The Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, Long Island and the neighboring communities in New York.
The aging process can take its toll on the upper eyelid, resulting in a drooping lid that makes you look perpetually tired, covers lashes, making it difficult to apply makeup and makes the eyes look smaller. In some cases, the drooping can become severe enough to interfere with your line of vision. Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, removes excess skin and sometimes fat from the upper eyelid, opening up the eye for a more youthful, refreshed appearance.
Downtime: 7-10 days
WHAT TO LOVE ABOUT BLEPHAROPLASTY
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT BLEPHAROPLASTY
Dr. Madnani typically performs upper eyelid surgery on patients with the following concerns:
- Small fatty deposits that give a puffy look to upper eyelids
- Sagging skin that creates excess upper eyelid folds
- Loose skin that hangs over the eye and interferes with the line of vision
Upper eyelid surgery may be performed alone, but is commonly combined with other cosmetic procedures like lower eyelid surgery and a brow lift to create more dramatic results.
Upper eyelid surgery is performed by Dr. Madnani using local anesthesia. Incisions are placed in the eyelids natural crease. Excess skin is precisely measured, removed and carefully closed to restore the eye’s natural contour.
The procedure takes an hour or less to complete, depending on whether the procedure is limited to the upper lids or is performed on both upper and lower lids simultaneously.
There is minor bruising and swelling after upper eyelid surgery, which typically subsides within a few days after the procedure. Pain is minimal and typically managed with Tylenol. Oral medication may be given to manage any post-operative discomfort and drops may be used to prevent dryness in the eyes during the recovery process. Most patients are able to return to work after a few days and regular exercise after 14 days.
Results of eyelid surgery may be seen right away, but will become more evident as the area heals. Eyes will appear more open and awake and any hooding that interfered with vision prior to surgery should be eliminated. Results of eyelid surgery are considered longer lasting, although the normal aging process may make touch-up procedures desirable in the future.
Dr. Madnani offers a variety of eyelid surgery options to accommodate every patient’s specific needs and desired outcome. To learn more about this cosmetic procedure, contact Dr. Madnani’s office at 212-203-8591.
